After forming in May 2011, Kid Felix quickly began to make themselves known within the Philadelphia music scene. They released their first EP the following November called "Head Above Water", and with its success they secured a spot performing at Bamboozle 2012.
Dubbed Indie rock with a grunge rock soul, Kid Felix consists of Jake Falana (vocals), John Ambrutis (lead guitar), Brett Hagen (guitar), John Szachewicz (drums), and Josh Mayer (bass). The band uses its unique structure to produce an indie style rock with modern melodies over carefully orchestrated and layered instrumentals.
Gaining national exposure as the regional finalists of the 2012 Hard Rock Rising Global Battle of the Bands, as well as playing both Bamboozle and the Warped Tour, Kid Felix was recently able to catch the ear of 93.3 WMMR midday DJ, Jaxon. Jaxon named the band “WMMR Artists of the Month” on his station and played their entire first EP throughout the month of August 2012. Their single, "Class Action Satisfaction," is still currently in rotation.
In October 2012 Kid Felix released their second EP “Young Luck” to a crowd of 600+ at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philly. The band impressed enough to land a set at the Electric Factory on New Years Eve as the main support for the band Octane.
Following up on this success Kid Felix received a main support slot to open for the Silvertide reunion show at a sold out TLA(1500+). As well as being asked to open up the MMRBQ at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey. This show featured headliners Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Following those shows, the band released their third EP, "Rivals," which charted on iTunes top selling Eps in its first week of release.
Finishing out 2014 Kid Felix won the PHL Live award for Best Rock Band in Philadelphia 2014. The accolades continued as Kid Felix were also selected as Regional Hard Rock Band of the year at the 4th Annual Tri-State Indie Awards in April 2015. After large festivals in the summer of 2015, such as Philadelphia's South Street Festival and New Jersey's Hollystock Music Festival, the band closed out the year at World Cafe Live for WMMR Jaxon's Mistletoe Jam.
Since 2016, the band has continued to reach new audiences and make new music. They released their most recent single, "Can't Feel It All" in 2016, and the band were on the official Philadelphia SXSW Showcase in Austin, TX. In addition to the showcase, the band had a successful string of dates from Nashville to Austin. 2017 saw the band supporting Pop Evil and Badflower to a crowd of 2,000 people at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. In the summer of 2017, the band performed on the Treehouse stage at the FireFly music festival in Dover, DE.
Kid Felix is currently performing a large catalog of unrecorded material in preparation for their next release.
